A video circulating on social media in the early hours of Wednesday showed family members struggling to escape from the burning building as thick flames spread across sections of the property.

Some occupants were heard shouting and calling for help while trying to find their way out of the house.

According to the individual who recorded the footage, the suspect had earlier engaged in a heated argument with family members before the situation escalated.

The narrator in the video claimed the young man, described as a suspected drug user, was seen wearing several chains around his neck shortly before the incident occurred.

The individual further alleged that the suspect vandalised property inside the compound during the disturbance.

Among the damaged items was the windscreen of a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, which was reportedly smashed while parked within the compound.

Several household items were also said to have been destroyed as the confrontation intensified.

At one point in the footage, the suspect’s mother could be seen outside the house in visible distress while neighbours and family members gathered around the compound.

Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were later called to the scene and were seen working to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact location of the incident in Lagos had not been independently confirmed.

It also remains unclear whether anyone sustained injuries or if any arrests have been made, as authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
