Suspected Kidnapper Arrested By Police in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command, has disclosed its operatives arrested a transborder kidnap suspect from the Republic of Benin in Baruten Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, simply identified as Mohammed Alo was arrested by the police in the forest within Kosubosu area of Baruten.

According to the spokesman of the state police command, Mr. Okasanmi Ajayi in Ilorin on Friday, disclosed that the suspect confessed to be a member of a transborder kidnap gang whose other members were now in Benin Republic.

“Acting on impeccable intelligence, a team of detectives headed by the Divisional Police Officer, Kosubosu, assisted by local vigilantes, stormed the forest within Kosubosu in Baruten axis, in search of some suspected kidnappers hybanating within the forest.

“Consequently, diligent search of the bushes by the police and vigilante team led to the arrest of one Mohammed Alo ‘M’ a Benin Republic citizen.”

Okasanmi made it known that items recovered from the suspecr included one locally-made gun, one machete, one jack-knife, two handsets and a sum of N2.300,000.

The police PRO added: “The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded,”
