A combined team of military personnel and local vigilantes were ambushed near Wanka while patrolling. Heavy gunfire resulted in significant casualties. Some attackers were neutralized, but the terrorists retreated and carried out further raids on Kyaram, destroying property and stealing cattle.
The Kanam Development Association (KADA) condemned the attack, noting that the border communities have faced repeated attacks including terrorism, kidnappings, and property destruction over the past 3–4 years.

“The attackers operated with impunity despite repeated appeals to authorities,” the association said in a statement signed by Chairman Barr. Garba Aliyu and Secretary Shehu Kanam.
KADA called for urgent intervention from the local government, Plateau State Government, and Federal Government to address the rising insecurity in the area.
