Suspended Catholic Priest, Hyacinth Alia Wins Benue APC Governorship Ticket

Rev Fr. Hyacinth Alia, a suspended catholic priest has been declared winner of the governorship primary election of the All Progressive Congress in Benue State.

Alia was suspended by the Bishop of Gboko Diocese, William Avenya, following his purchasing of the N50 nomination form, and being cleared to contest the primary election.

According to Bishop Avenya, “the Mother Church does not allow her clerics to get involved in partisan politics on their own”.

However, Alia was declared winner of the APC ticket after polling the entire 456 votes in the state, while three other aspirants who entered the contest with the embattled priest scored 0 votes.
