Sylva Writes INEC Over Name Omission from Candidates' List
Timipre Sylva

The All Progressives Candidate (APC) has written a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the removal of his name from the candidates’ list.

Sylva, through his lawyer, Ahmed Raji, SAN demanded an immediate withdrawal of the amended list of candidates released for the poll.

Raji described the decision of the electoral umpire as prejudicial.

INEC had released an amended list of candidates vying in the election without including Sylva’s name.

INEC’s decision came after Justice Donatus Okorowo of a Federal High Court, Abuja disqualified Sylva from contesting the election in a judgment delivered on October 9.

Unsatisfied with the judgment, Sylva approached the Court of Appeal to challenge the decision of the court through Raji.

While the appeal was pending, INEC released a list of candidates for the poll excluding Sylva’s name.

In a letter to INEC dated October 25, Sylva’s Lawyer said he had the firm instruction from his principal to respectfully demand the immediate withdrawal of the amended list.

The senior lawyer said it was shocking for INEC to release such a publication when the judgment the commission acted upon had already been appealed against at the Court of Appeal.
