Daily Report Nigeria can recall that Sylvester Oromoni, a JS2 pupil of the school died from internal injuries on November 30, 2021.

While his family alleged that the 12-year-old was bullied and beaten by seniors, the school authorities said the injuries were from playing football.

A public outrage greeted the incident, forcing the Lagos state government to order for am indefinite closure pf the school on December 3, 2021.

An assistant director of public affairs unit, Ministry of Education, Ganiu Lawal, said “not until ongoing investigations into the unfortunate incident reach an advanced stage,” the school will not be joining others to resume yet.

Lawal said the matter was not strictly a state matter and with the involvement of the police and other parties, “it would be ideal for all “t’s” to be crossed and “I’s” to be dotted.
“But I can assure you that very soon the issue will be resolved, but they are not resuming tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, in a statement on Monday, said bullying, cultism, and other vices would not be tolerated in any school.

While welcoming pupils, teachers and school administrators to the new year and the new term, Adefisayo urged school administrators to increase counselling of students against these vices.

“Devise appropriate strategies to advance teacher, student interaction in order to gain an insight and expose negative tendencies before they metamorphose into unfortunate situations.

“Adequate monitoring, especially as it affects boarding school students should be enforced to prevent the incidence of bullying and all other vices,” the commissioner advised
