The Lagos State coroner’s inquest, which aimed to uncover the cause of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr’s death, has determined that he passed away from natural causes.
Magistrate Mikhail Kadiri, in a comprehensive 255-page judgment delivered on Monday, deemed Oromoni’s demise avoidable.
Kadiri attributed the tragedy to negligence on the part of both parents and doctors.
He said:

“Septicaemia (a life-threatening health condition caused by a patient’s body’s response to an infection), following infections of the lungs and kidneys arising from the ankle wound.
“No evidence of blunt force trauma in this body.
“The findings in the oesophagus and stomach are not compatible with chemical intoxication. Death, in this case, is natural.”
Regards, he sympathised with the family and their friends, offering prayers for their comfort during this difficult time.
The 12-year-old student at Dowen College in Lekki, Lagos, tragically lost his life on November 30, 2021, allegedly due to bullying and poisoning at the school.
He was buried on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
