Popular reality TV star Natasha Akide, better known as Tacha and now residing in the UK, has strongly criticized Nigerian pastors, citing the recent controversy surrounding Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church.
Tacha spoke out following the circulation of a video in which Pastor Adefarasin was seen confronting a car spotter while holding what appeared to be a firearm-like object.
The footage stirred widespread debate, with many accusing the pastor of overreacting.

In response to the backlash, Pastor Adefarasin denied possessing a firearm and claimed the car spotter had acted aggressively, prompting his reaction. However, Tacha dismissed his explanation and accused him of manipulating the truth.

Sharing her thoughts via a video posted on her X account on Sunday, the media personality expressed disappointment, stating that the evidence in the video contradicted the pastor’s version of events.
“I kept quiet until I saw clips from today’s service,” she said. “What I can’t stand is gaslighting. The video is clear, and it shows who the real aggressor was.”
Tacha argued that the car spotter appeared non-threatening and was even praising the pastor in the clip. She questioned the justification for Pastor Adefarasin’s reaction and described the support he received from his congregation as troubling.
“What hurt me the most is the applause from his congregation. Were they watching the same video or just choosing to ignore the obvious?” she asked.
She also took a broader swipe at church leaders in Nigeria, suggesting that most would not be able to get away with such conduct if they were operating in countries with stricter accountability.
“Ninety percent of Nigerian pastors wouldn’t last a year abroad with the way they behave here,” she said.
Tacha further recalled a separate incident in which the same pastor allegedly shattered the windscreen of a bus that hit his vehicle, endangering its passengers. She criticized the double standards in public reactions, pointing out that a similar act by a politician would have caused massive uproar.
“If this had been Seyi Tinubu or Wike’s son, social media would be in flames,” she added. “But because it’s a pastor, people are making excuses.”
Calling out what she described as “selective outrage,” Tacha urged Nigerians to stop turning a blind eye to misconduct by religious leaders.
