Moreover, Forest’s leadership hailed his comeback spirit and viewed this deal as a clear vote of confidence.

The Nigerian striker has made 72 appearances since joining from Union Berlin in 2022 for a club-record £17 million.

Meanwhile, the former Liverpool forward registered 17 goals, many of which were essential to Forest’s League survival.

However, he only managed one league goal and less than 900 minutes on the pitch last season due to injuries and intense competition.

Therefore, by offering this extension, the club stakes its faith in his ability to hit top form once more.

Forest made their first appearance in European football in nearly three decades as they were promoted to the UEFA Conference League under Nuno Espírito Santo.

Consequently, having a fully fit Awoniyi will beef up their attack as they tackle continental opposition.

Moreso, his compatriot Ola Aina has also earned a contract extension.

Aina started every Premier League match last term, chipped in two goals, provided an assist, and helped keep 11 clean sheets.

Ultimately, while Awoniyi’s scoring dipped over the past two campaigns, Forest remain convinced that his pace and finishing instincts will reemerge.

As the club balances survival in the domestic league with its European adventure, his resurgence could prove decisive.
