Growing up in Kwara, he credits football with giving him “purpose, discipline and a way to dream beyond my environment.”

He has seen firsthand how the sport can change a young person’s future.

He intends to use the league to teach life lessons, not only game strategy.

“I want to help young boys find direction, discipline and purpose through the game,” – he explained.

While he will continue to identify emerging footballers, he aims to build character and uplift communities.

Awoniyi also praised the Kwara YEG League team and local partners for their early support:

“Thank you to everyone who has backed this vision so far. I truly believe we’re building something special together.”

He called on other influencers in Nigeria and beyond to back youth programs through football.

“Football opens doors, shapes lives and gives purpose. Let’s use it to build a stronger future,” – he said.

“This is just the beginning,” – Awoniyi added, looking ahead to the lives the league will impact.

His work off the field earned him the PFA Community Champion award for the 2024–25 season—a well-deserved honour for a leader on and off the pitch.
