Comrade Daniel Igere, a young and prominent leader in Ogulagha Kingdom, Delta State, has accused detractors of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited as arrow heads behind oil theft, illegal oil bunkering, kidnapping and sea piracy in the Niger Delta.
Igere said this while reacting to a perceived campaign of calumny – most recently by the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) – against the operations of the company.
The youth leader expressed disappointment in the calls for the federal government to retract its running pipeline surveillance contract with Tantita.
He questioned why any sane person or group would demand for Tantita to be sacked from carrying out its activities peacefully when the company has delivered way beyond expectations.

According to Igere, “our waterways have become clean and habitable because of Tantita’s sustained response to duty, purposefully.”
“Source of livelihoods in our waters like fishing and hunting have resumed fully and back to their normal status as of old, all because of Tantita,” he said.
Igere stressed that the ecosystem in the Niger Delta is gradually recovering from the adverse effect of oil spillage on the environment because of Tantita.
“Tantita is restoring our ecosystem back to its original place,” Igere stressed.
On insecurity, Igere emphasized that “kidnapping, sea piracy, and armed robbery activities have all been reduced to an all-time low” owing to the company’s community based engagement approach.

“Those against the peaceful operation of Tantita are the main suspects of all previous atrocities the region earlier experienced
“Tantita has been very effective in the surveillance of both onshore and offshore oil installations and should be given the needed support to fulfill its mandate”, Igere added.
