A primary school teacher, Mrs. Faith Nwoye, has been remanded in a Correctional Centre for allegedly flogging an 8-year-old pupil, Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, to death at Landmark International School in Mgbakwu, Anambra State.

The Special Court handling women and children related matters in the State heard the matter and ordered her remand. The school’s proprietor, Mrs. Promise Iloh, was also charged in connection with the incident.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, had directed the immediate closure of the school, citing its illegal operations.

The teacher will face the full wrath of the law and be prosecuted for violating child rights, according to the Commissioner.

The case was handed over to the Police for investigation, and the teacher will face additional charges once the investigation is complete.
