A 51-year-old school teacher, Gbogidi Ojo Williams, has been remanded by an Akure Magistrate’s Court for allegedly beating a young man, Abayomi Olamitoke, to death in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.
Williams was arraigned by the Ondo State Police Command on a charge of murder, allegedly committed on September 16, 2025, at about 2:30 p.m. at Akunmi Quarters in Akungba-Akoko.
According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Taiwo Oniyere, the defendant, along with others who are currently at large, conspired to commit the offence.
The charge reads:

The offence is said to contravene Sections 324 and 316, and is punishable under Section 319 of the Ondo State Criminal Code.
The court did not take the plea of the defendant.
Prosecutor Oniyere urged the court to remand Williams pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). However, defence counsel, Benjamin Adeyanju, asked for an adjournment to allow time to file a counter-affidavit.
Presiding Magistrate, Odenusi-Fadeyi Olateju, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and adjourned the case until October 7, 2025, for further mention.
