Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo stunned the world at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Thursday by winning gold in the 200m final.

The 21-year-old Tebogo not only claimed the top spot but also set a new African record with a time of 19.46 seconds, preventing Noah Lyles from securing a sprint double at the Games.

American Kenneth Bednarek took the silver, finishing in 19.62 seconds, while Lyles, who had previously won the 100m final by a razor-thin margin, settled for bronze with a time of 19.70 seconds.

After the race, it was revealed that Lyles had tested positive for COVID-19, and the 27-year-old needed assistance to leave the track in a wheelchair.
