Ten Hag urged to Name Kobbie Mainoo as Manchester United Captain

Kobbie Mainoo

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has urged Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to appoint Kobbie Mainoo as the new captain of the club. Petit believes the young English player represents the future of Manchester United and could be a strong leader for the team.

In an interview with Top Offshore Sportsbooks, Petit emphasized that Mainoo, along with fellow youngster Alejandro Garnacho, has the potential to be a key figure at Old Trafford. He suggested that the club should entrust more responsibility to both players.

“I’m looking at the squad, and I don’t see any real leaders. The best players have been the likes of Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo. If I were Ten Hag, I might make a bold decision and appoint Mainoo as captain. He’s young, but he’s English and is establishing himself in the national team. He’s someone the fans are proud of,” Petit explained.

Petit added that Ten Hag might need to make a statement to his underperforming players by showing he is ready to stand with those who are willing to fight alongside him.

Currently, Bruno Fernandes serves as Manchester United’s captain after Erik ten Hag removed the armband from Harry Maguire earlier this season.
