10 Dead, Scores Arrested During Abuja Protest

  • Five people have been rumoured dead, following a shooting during protest in Abuja.

  • The shootout was said to have occurred following a clash between Shiites and security Operatives in Abuja.

There is currently an ongoing tension in Abuja, following a shootout by security operatives to disperse protesters.

According to reports, members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN had hit the street on Friday, March 28, as they protest in solidarity with Palestine, which has been in war with Israel for a decade now.

This is a norm, which the Shiites perform during the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a turn of event,  The Quad procession, which took place around Banex roundabout in Wuse 2 got bloody, after some protesters were said to have thrown stones at security operatives in the area.

In response, security operatives fired shots to diapers the crowd.

Videos making rounds online showed the moments the Shiites hit the street with placards with inscription “Freedom for Palestine”. Anr another showed the moment the security agents shot to disperse the crowd.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the IMN, Sidi Munir Sokoto, who described the act as abuse of power said at least 5 protesters might have been killed.

This is yet another tragic incident where security forces have abused their power by targeting innocent civilians who were merely exercising their right to peaceful assembly,” 

“As at the time of writing this article, we could not confirm the exact number of those killed, injured and arrested, however from the information we reliably obtained from eyewitnesses the figure of those killed is around 5 people or thereabout. Nevertheless, we will update the public in due course. 

“We call on relevant authorities to investigate this incident and ensure that the rights of citizens are protected. The freedom to peaceful assembly is an inalienable constitutional right that must not be violated.”

Man Steals goods Worth N500k, Spends Money On P£nis Enlargement Oil

A man has been arrested and is currently being interrogated, over alleged burglary and theft.

The suspect was said to have stolen buildings material worth hundreds of thousands, and spent the money on penis enlargement oil.
