“We have recovered five bodies, including minors. Many others are in critical condition,” the source revealed, voice filled with exhaustion and fear.

The attack in Damakasuwa adds to a string of violent incidents that have swept through Kaduna in recent days.

Just hours earlier, bandits kidnapped an entire vehicle of traders heading to the Layin Danauta weekly market in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. According to eyewitnesses, the group intercepted the golf car transporting the traders and whisked everyone away, including the driver.

The same bandits also abducted two people traveling on a motorcycle and vanished into the forest with all the captives.

In Kajuru Local Government Area, gunmen raided Rafin Roro community and kidnapped nine people from the home of the village’s traditional ruler. Although the ruler managed to escape, members of his immediate and extended family were taken. The violence did not end there.

Earlier in the week, bandits attacked Bukkah community in Chikun Local Government Area, kidnapping seven villagers after firing shots that sent residents running into the bushes for safety. Due to the dangerous terrain, security operatives could not launch an immediate rescue effort.

Those abducted in that raid include Mohammed Rufai, Sagiru Musa, Bala Usman, Aisha’atu Usman, Bilkisu Isiya, Sa’adiya Usman, and Wasila Usman.

In another incident, an Anglican priest, Edwin Achi, and his wife, Sarah Achi, were taken from their residence in Nissi community, also in Chikun LGA. Members of the church expressed frustration that despite repeated attacks on Christian communities, the cases rarely make headlines and responses are slow.

Residents say the frequency of bandit attacks in Southern Kaduna has created constant fear, with communities feeling abandoned as kidnappings and killings continue without decisive government action.
