Terrorists have attacked and killed two officers of the Kaduna Vigilantes Service, Yahaya Nasafe and Yakubu Umar, who were on an operation to protect farmers in the Tasake community, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack, which occurred on Tuesday evening, also resulted in the deaths of two local farmers and the abduction of scores of people.

A resident, Idris Khalid, told City Round that the terrorists started shooting around 11:00-12:00 noon in a village called Tasake in the Ungwan Mayana area of Gayam ward in the Birnin Gwari LGA. “The KADVS engaged and killed some of the terrorists while others ran with gunshots. It was unfortunate that the vigilantes were ambushed by the bandits,” Khalid said.

Khalid suggested that only an offensive joint military operation to the terrorists’ hideouts would tackle the lingering insecurity challenges.
