Eight persons were killed and scores abducted on Sunday when terrorists launched a violent assault on Wake community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos as armed men stormed homes and public spaces, firing indiscriminately and forcibly taking civilians away.
According to a source who spoke under condition of anonymity, many of the injured have been rushed to the Saint Gerard Catholic Hospital, where they are receiving emergency medical care. “Those who sustained injuries in the attack are still being treated. Families are desperate for information about their loved ones,” the source said.
Calls made to officials of Kachia Local Government have so far yielded no response, with authorities promising to provide details after the victims have been attended to. Security agencies are understood to have launched a coordinated operation to track the perpetrators and secure the area, but official statements were unavailable at press time.

The attack comes amid heightened security concerns in Kaduna State, where communities have faced repeated raids by armed groups in recent months. Local residents fear for their safety as reports indicate that kidnappings and killings in the region are increasingly coordinated and violent.

Humanitarian organisations have also expressed concern over the welfare of those abducted, urging authorities to prioritise their safe release.
