The Geng Announces Maiden Ogulagha Marathon, Cash Prizes | Daily Report Nigeria

A social group known as The Geng has announced plans to hold a maiden marathon in Ogulagha, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The group made up of youths cutting across Ogulagha Kingdom, said the epic event is aimed at promoting peace and oneness.

Stanley Wene Ayelatei, a member of the group who spoke with Daily Report Nigeria, said the marathon is one of the channels the group intends to give back to society.

“The marathon is about promoting peace and love amongst us, that’s why it is open to both indigenes and non-indigenes. It is also an avenue for us to give back to the society.

“Like I said earlier, the main reason why we are doing is to give back to the society and to promote oneness amongst ourselves,” he said.

He noted that The Geng has the desire to market Ogulagha in a positive light, and the marathon was one of such measures to attract the rest of the world to the oil-rich kingdom.

Ayelatei described Ogulagha as a peace-loving place where investors can be assured of safety, comfort and huge returns in their businesses.

According to the Seipere, the group hopes to make the event an internationally recognized race.

“We are looking beyond Ogulagha Kingdom and even beyond Nigeria. We are looking at making this an international also for the whole Nigeria and the World at large to know that there is a place called Ogulagha Kingdom and we are peace loving people.

“We see this as an avenue to call on the rest of the world to come invest in our Kingdom and our people.

Quizzed on the if the event would be a yearly event going forward, Ayelatei said;

“Yes, it is aimed at been a Yearly s that’s the ultimate goal,” he added.

The maiden edition of The Geng’s Marathon race is billed for May 14, 2022. Cash prizes to be won are; first place – N100,000, second place – N70,000, and third price – N50,000.

The event is co-sponsored by the Julius Pondi Foundation, Shedrack Agediga Foundation, Roland Dede Foundation, as well as Sokebolou and Yokiri communities.

Denyefa Ibilou, popularly known as Investor, a member of The Geng is the frontline sponsor of this year’s event.
