African football’s biggest night arrives as the CAF Awards 2025 take centre stage in Rabat, with Victor Osimhen, Mohamed Salah, and Achraf Hakimi leading a star-studded list of nominees competing for the continent’s top honours. Nigerian standouts Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie also feature prominently, setting the stage for one of the most closely watched editions of the CAF Awards.
Football fans across Africa are counting down to Wednesday night as the CAF Awards 2025 ceremony gets underway in Rabat, Morocco. The event will celebrate the continent’s brightest talents between January 6 and October 15, 2025, recognising individual brilliance, team performance and outstanding commitment to the game.

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, who lifted the Men’s Player of the Year Award in 2023, returns to the final shortlist once again. This time, he faces fierce competition from Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and PSG defender Achraf Hakimi, two players who have delivered remarkable form for club and country throughout the year.
The women’s category also has strong Nigerian representation. Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade is in the running for African Women’s Player of the Year, while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie is hunting what could become her third straight continental recognition. Both players have built significant influence in European leagues and remain central figures in Nigeria’s resurgence in women’s football.
The ceremony will begin at 19:00 local time (18:00 GMT) at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat. Beninese music icon Angélique Kidjo and Moroccan comedian Oualass will anchor the event, with live performances from Douaa Lahyaoui, Awilo Longomba and Fuse ODG adding colour to the night.
A wide range of awards will be presented, covering players, coaches, clubs and national teams. However, due to the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt, the Women’s Coach of the Year, Women’s Interclub Player of the Year and Women’s Club of the Year awards will be announced later.
This year’s nominee list reflects the dominance of North and West Africa, with Morocco earning multiple slots across male and female categories, while Nigeria remains a major force in women’s football.

Among the men, Hakimi, Salah and Osimhen headline the top category. South Africa, Cape Verde and Morocco secure key nominations in team honours, while rising stars such as Othmane Maamma of Morocco and Tylon Smith of South Africa appear among the young talents to watch.
In the women’s division, Ajibade, Morocco’s Ghizlaine Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy make the final trio for Player of the Year, while Nnadozie leads the goalkeeper shortlist against Andile Dlamini and Khadija Er-Rmichi. Nigeria, Ghana and Morocco also contest the Women’s National Team of the Year award.
