The reported incidents are said to have happened between 2021 and 2022 and involve three different women.
Police claim two rape charges relate to one woman, three to another, and the sexual assault charge involves a third.
The case officially opened in February 2022, and Thomas Partey, now 32, is expected to appear in court at Westminster Magistrates’ on August 5.
Partey, who just became a free agent after leaving Arsenal earlier this week denies all the charges and welcomes the opportunity to clear his name, according to his lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, who spoke with the Press Association.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) gave the green light to move forward with the charges after going through what it called a “comprehensive file of evidence.”
Jaswant Narwal, chief prosecutor for CPS London North, reminded the public that everyone is entitled to a fair trial and added a warning:
“We remind everyone that criminal proceedings are active, and the defendant has the right to a fair trial. It is absolutely vital that there is no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the investigation, echoed the need for sensitivity and support for the alleged victims.
“Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward,” – he stated, encouraging anyone else with information to contact the police by emailing CIT@met.police.uk.
Thomas Partey had an amazing five-year stretch at the Emirate.
The 2020 signing from Atlético Madrid cost Arsenal roughly £45 million.
Last season, the Ghanaian midfielder appeared in 35 league games, scoring four goals, and being involved in the team that reached the Champions League semifinals wherein PSG knocked them out after 12 appearances from the Ghanaian.
As for informing the whole world, an official statement from Arsenal hasn’t been presented yet, with ESPN thought to have contacted the club for a statement.
