A 22-year-old lady identified as Khadija Yakubu has been arrested by the Yobe Police Command for allegedly poisoning and killing three of her stepchildren in Malaria Huta community, Potiskum Local Government Area, Yobe.
ASP Dungus Abdulkareem, the Police Public Relations Officer Yobe in a statement on Friday said the suspect poisoned the tea which the children were meant to take.
Report gathered said the children belonged to her husbands first wife. The victims identified as Umar Haruna, “12”; Maryam Haruna, “11”, Ahmed Haruna, “9” and seven-year-old Zainab Haruna all died after taking the poisoned tea.

“Findings indicated that the children were rushed to a hospital after taking the tea prepared by the suspect, Khadija Yakubu, in the early hours of Friday.
Three of the victims died while receiving treatment and one remain unconscious.
“The suspect has been apprehended and is in custody. Investigation has begun to ascertain the remote and immediate cause of the incident. She will be charged after investigation,” Abdulkareem stated.
