Three lawyers from the Nigerian Bar Association’s Warri branch and a driver who were kidnapped on the Auchi-Benin road on Wednesday have been released.

According to a statement issued by the Chairman of the NBA Warri, Chief Emmanuel Uti, they were released in the early hours of Saturday and had returned to their families.

The statement, which did not mention ransom, advised the Edo state government and security agencies on how to improve security on the Benin-Auchi road.

“This kidnapping incident has highlighted the need for the Edo State Government to take steps to clear the forest from the Ogbemudia Farms axis up to Ekpoma along the Benin-Auchi Road and the need for all Police Area Commands in Edo and Delta States to be outfitted with Phone Tracking Devices to assist in combating the nation’s security threat”

“We are pleased to announce the release of three of our colleagues and their driver who were kidnapped on February 2nd, 2022, along the Benin-Auchi Road.”

“They were released today, February 5th, 2022, at approximately 1.05 a.m., and were reunited with their families.”
The statement thanked the NBA’s Edo state branch and others for their assistance during the ordeal.
