Three Motorists Abducted Along Okene–Kabba Road in Kogi

Three motorists were reportedly abducted on Monday night along the Okene–Kabba road in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to security sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. when armed assailants blocked the highway with firewood, forcing vehicles to a halt.

One of the victims’ relatives, Salihu Abdulmumuni of Usugwe Estate, confirmed that his father, Salihu Salaudeen, was among those taken.

Police later discovered three abandoned vehicles at the scene, including a Dyna 200 with registration number LKJ 389 GYE. Preliminary investigations identified the kidnapped drivers as Salihu Salaudeen of Usugwe, Shaibu Mohammed of Okene, and Ibrahim Muritala of Lagos.

Three empty cartridge shells were also recovered at the scene, and the abandoned vehicles were taken to the local police station for safekeeping.

The Adamawa State Police Command has announced the recovery of a vehicle during investigations into an armed robbery that occurred in February 2024.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the state police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
