In the opening heat of the women’s 100 metres at the NCAA East Preliminary meet in Florida, Nigerian standout Tima Godbless exploded out of the blocks to post a personal record of 10.91 seconds (1.2 m/s), the fastest mark worldwide this season.
The 20-year-old LSU athlete broke clear from her field early and cruised across the finish line with room to spare.
Meanwhile, Tima has cemented her status as the athlete to watch as the meet progresses to the quarterfinals.

Commanding 400m Runs
Edidiong Udo dominated his 400 m heat, crossing in 45.59 seconds to outpace Ashton Schwartzman’s 45.84.
In the fourth heat, Samuel Ogazi followed with a strong 45.72 finish, just ahead of Ervin Pearson’s 45.77.
Speedsters Surge in the 100m
Three Nigerian sprinters advanced in the men’s 100 m:
Kanyinsola Ajayi clocked 10.21 seconds (–0.4 m/s), taking second behind Jaiden Reid (10.19 s).
Fakorede Nicholas powered to 10.30 seconds for a runner-up position.

Sunday Israel Okon captured his heat with a 10.36-second run, booking his ticket to the quarters.
West Prelims Recap – Hurdles and Jumps in Texas
400m Hurdles Victory
At the NCAA West Preliminary in College Station, Texas, African Games champion Ezekiel Nathaniel controlled his men’s 400 m hurdles heat, clocking 49.37 seconds, with Mario Paul trailing in 50.15.
Standout Long Jump
In the men’s long jump, Charles Godfred soared to 8.10 m (+1.4 m/s), topping the qualifiers and extending his unbeaten streak in 2025.
The only other athlete beyond eight metres was Chris Preddie, who managed 8.01 m.
Looking Ahead – NCAA Outdoor Championships
The NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships are set for June 11–14 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
The top finishers from both East and West prelims will face off across 42 events on one of the sport’s most storied stages.
