Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has called on former presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to step aside for younger leaders in the 2027 presidential election.
In an interview with Trust TV, Baba-Ahmed emphasized that the current generation of politicians, including President Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, should make way for fresh faces.
“This particular generation has played itself out; they really have nothing to offer this country,” Baba-Ahmed stated. “We are going through the same politics again where there is bitterness and the winner takes it all.”

He believes that younger leaders would bring renewed energy and ideas to the table, allowing Nigeria to move forward.
Baba-Ahmed also criticised the notion that a president must serve two terms, questioning the logic behind this thinking.
“Who said that? When the NEF realized that Buhari was bad news for this country, he wasn’t performing and not willing to fix this country, we rallied other groups in the country… But now you hear things like he must do his eight years, what about the South?”
