President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Hakeem Odumosu as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Odumosu, a retired Assistance Inspector-General of Police will take over the reigns of the anti-graft agency following the suspension of AbdulRasheed Bawa.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that Bawa was suspended by President Tinubu over weighty allegations leveled on him and subsequent interrogation.

He was almost immediately invited by the Department of State Service (DSS) and remains in the custody of the secret police pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, Odumosu’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Abdukarim Chukkol currently plays the role as acting Chairman of the EFCC.
