President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser (NSA).
Ribadu, who was the pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was also retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
The appointment was made after Ribadu was chosen over two other candidates, former Minister of Interior and ex-Chief of Army Staff, General Abdul Rahman Dambazau (rtd), and the current Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar.

The NSA served as the principal adviser to the President on security matters, including coordinating various security agencies, providing intelligence assessments, and formulating policies to address the nation’s security challenges.

Furthermore, the position required an individual capable of navigating complex security issues and providing effective counsel to the President.
Ribadu’s extensive experience in security and law enforcement, coupled with his dedication to public service, was highly valued by Tinubu.
