President Bola Tinubu has endorsed the hosting of the 2025 edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in Lagos, with the Federal Government setting up a Local Organising Committee to deliver what it calls “a historic event.”

AFRIMA 2025 is scheduled for November 25–30, under the theme “Unstoppable Africa.”

The endorsement follows a request by the African Union Commission for Nigeria’s collaboration to host the prestigious music awards.

Government’s Commitment to Creativity
In a statement on Friday, Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, inaugurated the inter-ministerial Local Organising Committee in Abuja, saying AFRIMA aligns with Tinubu’s vision of leveraging the creative industry as a driver of economic growth and national development.

“This is more than just an awards show. It’s a major platform to create jobs, promote tourism, celebrate African talents, and tell our positive stories authentically through music to the world,” Musawa said.

Global Attention on Lagos
President of AFRIMA, Mike Dada, praised the Federal Government for its “swift and visionary support,” adding that the backing shows Nigeria’s commitment to promoting unity and prosperity across Africa.

“With this support, we are confident that AFRIMA 2025 will be an unforgettable celebration of African talent and creativity for the world to see,” Dada said.

The Lagos State Government has been confirmed as the official host city and is partnering with AFRIMA and the Federal Government for the event.

The organising committee includes members from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Film and Video Censors Board, National Council for Arts and Culture, and representatives of AFRIMA and the African Union Commission.
