President Bola Tinubu is currently chairing the inaugural Council of State meeting at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, with former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari in attendance.

The meeting, which started at 12:35 pm, has in attendance former Heads of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd.) and General Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.), who joined virtually. Also present are the governors of Abia, Adamawa, and Akwa Ibom State.

A source revealed that the meeting will discuss seven key issues, including the nationwide protests, economy, food security, and national security. The President will make presentations on consolidating gains in the solid minerals sector, budgeting, and planning for sustained development.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, will discuss food availability and affordability, while the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, will present on his sector. Other ministers will also make presentations on behalf of the President.

The Council of State is a constitutional organ that advises the executive on policy-making. Its role is largely advisory, guiding the President in decision-making processes on national security, appointments, and economic policies.
