Tinubu Offers New Fuel Options: Petrol at ₦1,000 per Litre or CNG at ₦200 | Daily Report Nigeria

In a recent meeting with Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company executives, President Bola Tinubu announced new fuel pricing options for Nigerian motorists.

As of yesterday, motorists can purchase petrol at ₦1,000 per litre or its gas equivalent at ₦200 per Standard Cubic Meter.

The President highlighted NIPCO’s contributions to Nigeria’s energy sector and praised the company’s efforts in promoting Compressed Natural Gas adoption. He emphasized public-private partnerships in fostering a shift to cleaner energy solutions.

Tinubu stated, “Nigeria’s motorists can buy petrol at ₦1,000 per litre or equivalent gas per Standard Cubic Meter at ₦200. We have also introduced incentives for commercial motorists to convert from petrol to gas” free of cost.

NIPCO’s director, Mr. Ramesh Kasangra, expressed gratitude towards President Tinubu for his support for the CNG sector. He assured the president of NIPCO’s readiness to expand CNG accessibility through significant investments in infrastructure.

However, this announcement has sparked controversy, with some critics arguing that the new prices will burden Nigerians.

The President’s political symbol, the broken shackle, has also been criticized as a symbol of unfulfilled expectations and oppression ² ³ ¹.
