In his New Year message, President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that their sacrifices will not be in vain, promising a brighter future for the country.

The President, who reflected on his administration’s achievements in the past 19 months, acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerians but expressed optimism about the prospects for 2025.

According to Tinubu, “To all citizens, your sacrifices have not been in vain over the past 19 months. I assure you they will not be in vain even in the months ahead. Together, let us stay the course of nation-building.”

He emphasized that the New Year will bring the country closer to its desired future, adding, “The New Year will bring us closer to the bright future we all desire and the Nigeria of our dreams.”

The President readfirmed some of his administration’s achievements, including a positive economic outlook, reduced fuel prices, foreign trade surpluses, and a strengthened Naira.

However, he acknowledged that the cost of food and essential drugs remains a significant concern.

To address these challenges, Tinubu announced plans to intensify efforts to lower food and drug costs, boost food production, and promote local manufacturing of essential drugs.

He also pledged to reduce inflation from 34.6% to 15% and establish the National Credit Guarantee Company to expand access to credit for individuals and critical sectors of the economy.

Other leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, also sent New Year messages, urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and committed to the country’s progress.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charged President Tinubu to address the issues of insecurity, fuel, and food crises, while former Governor Godwin Obaseki expressed confidence that Nigeria will prevail and emerge stronger, united, and prosperous.
