The Federal Government of Nigeria is working out modalities to increase budgetary allocation for the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

This was revealed by the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Otuaro during Friday’s engagement with camp leaders and ex-agitators.

According to Otuaro, the move is part of President Bola Tinubu’s plans to not only sustain the existing peace in the Niger Delta but also has the developmental interest of the region at heart.

“I want to reassure you that the president is interested in our budget review. In the 2025 budget, our budget would be reviewed upward to accommodate more persons, women, and stakeholders that were not carried along” Otuaro announced amid applause from a cheering audience.

“As a platform, we’re not going to wait until we resort back to violence before carrying everybody along. It will be a continued engagement,” Otuaro emphasized.

Emphasizing President Tinubu’s good intent for the Niger Delta, the PAP Administrator also revealed that the federal government has re-awarded the East-West road to a Chinese firm.

“The President has that goodwill towards the development of the Niger Delta, especially the issue of East-West Road. He has re-awarded the contract to a Chinese firm, and they will start work very soon, “he said.

Otuaro reiteratively assured the ex-agitators that the agency under his watch will seek out more ways to include more persons to benefit from the programme.

He charged the various camp leaders to continue to support his administration as well as that of the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu, asking them to shun the proposed October 1 protest.
