President Bola Tinubu has sent a representative to the ongoing summit of world leaders in France’s city of Paris.
Given that Tinubu’s office had previously announced he was in France for the summit and to take part in a discussion about Africa’s economic prospects, it wasn’t immediately clear why Tinubu couldn’t walk out on stage by himself.
He requested that the ambassador of his nation speak on his behalf.
The two-day summit on the new global financing pact will take place at the Palais Brongniart in Paris, and according to organizers, it will focus on finding effective solutions to combat poverty and the damaging effects of climate change on the global financial system.

At 6:00 pm the President was supposed to join the other participants on stage.
He, however, was represented by the Nigerian Ambassador to France, Adamu Ahmed, who was on stage with David Craig, co-chair of the task force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD); Mark Carney of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), Mary Schapiro of global public policy at Bloomberg, Sabine Mauderer of the Network for Greening the Financial System; and United Nations special envoy Catherine Mckenna.
The scenario look set to further raise eyebrows on the health status of President Tinubu.
