President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday swore in Olatunji Disu as the substantive Inspector-General of Police at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
Disu took the oath of office at 2:53 pm after his citation was read, with Vice President Kashim Shettima, ministers and other top government officials in attendance.

The event preceded the Federal Executive Council meeting.
The swearing-in followed the unanimous confirmation of Disu’s appointment by the Nigeria Police Council earlier in the week.
He had been appointed acting IGP after the resignation of former police chief Kayode Egbetokun.

Before his elevation, Disu served as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Special Protection Unit and Force CID Annex, Lagos.
During his earlier decoration as acting IGP, President Tinubu charged him to strengthen discipline, improve inter-agency collaboration and restore public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force. Disu, in response, pledged zero tolerance for corruption and human rights abuses within the Force.
