Shortly after his arrival, the president visited the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), where several survivors of the attack are receiving treatment. Medical personnel disclosed that some of the patients remain in critical condition.
Speaking after his hospital visit, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the killings and pledged government intervention. “This attack is a great tragedy. I stand with the people of Benue in this moment of grief. We will ensure justice is served and no Nigerian community will live in fear,” he said.
He proceeded to the Benue Government House for a closed-door townhall meeting with stakeholders across the state, where discussions centred on practical and long-term solutions to the recurring farmer-herder clashes in the region.
This marks President Tinubu’s first official trip to Benue since taking office in 2023. His visit follows widespread calls from civil society groups urging the federal government to urgently address the violence plaguing rural communities across the state.
