Tinubu Vows to Reposition Nigerian Universities for Global Relevance

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Nigerian universities to meet the evolving needs of the modern world.

In a message delivered at the 52nd convocation of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Tinubu stressed the importance of universities in driving research and human capital development.

To achieve the goal, the President revealed his administration will prioritize addressing funding challenges for research and infrastructure development in universities.

He said:

We recognize the vital role universities play in shaping the future, and we will continue to support their transformation to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.

We will ensure adequate funding for research and infrastructure, but we also expect prudent management and accountability in the utilization of these resources to achieve impactful education and sustainable development.”

The President was represented by Rakiya Ilyasu, Director of University Education in the Federal Ministry of Education.
