Labour Party’s former vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, said President Bola Tinubu will not contest the 2027 election if he is “truly a smart politician.”

Baba-Ahmed made the remark on Arise TV, insisting that the APC’s chances of winning in 2027 are slim, and Tinubu should “throw in the towel.”
Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will not seek re-election in 2027, claiming it would be a wise political decision.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Friday, Baba-Ahmed argued that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is heading for defeat in the next general election, and Tinubu should step aside to avoid further political loss.

“I expect Tinubu to throw in the towel if he is that smart politician that he turns out to be,” Baba-Ahmed stated.
He also accused the president of long-term electoral manipulation, saying, “He skipped 2007 and jokingly made Atiku (presidential) candidate, made Ribadu and somebody in 2011, made Buhari in 2015, Buhari won, and then skipped 2019 and they stole 2023.”
Baba-Ahmed concluded that Tinubu’s political strategies have run their course, and the signs are clear that “he’s going to lose 2027” if he runs.
