Tinubu Won't Address National Assembly Today as Planned - Presidency | Daily Report Nigeria

Contrary to previous announcements, President Bola Tinubu will not be addressing a joint session of the National Assembly on May 29, 2024.

The development was made by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, who clarified that the Office of the President was not involved in the planning of the event.

Ngelale’s statement contradicts earlier statements made by spokespeople for the Senate and House of Representatives, Yemi Adaramodu and Akin Rotimi, as well as Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Earlier, the announcement stated that the National Assembly would hold a joint sitting on May 29 to commemorate 25 years of unbroken democracy and legislative practice in Nigeria.

The event was scheduled to begin at 10:00 am in the Green Chamber, House of Representatives Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

Recall that the National Assembly Clerk, Sani Tambawal, had also confirmed the event, stating that Tinubu would address the lawmakers on the state of the nation and commission the NASS Library.
