In a sharp and unsparing interview, former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai declared President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no realistic pathway to reelection in 2027, citing Nigeria’s worsening political and economic landscape.

“Anybody that thinks it is possible for President Bola Tinubu to get re-elected is living in another country, not Nigeria. It is impossible for Bola Tinubu to get re-elected. I don’t see a pathway for him, no matter how disorganised the opposition is. Who will vote for him? But that’s my own opinion.”
This statement came in direct contradiction to the stance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and the National Assembly, who recently threw their full support behind Tinubu for a second term.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, had earlier led a charge of confidence in Tinubu’s political strength, declaring him the sole candidate of the APC for the 2027 elections.
Likewise, APC state governors rallied behind the president during the party’s summit in Abuja, endorsing his candidacy for reelection.
