The singer recalled that while on her wedding trip in Dubai, she often heard Don Jazzy playing the unfinished version of Dorobucci in their hotel. At the time, she quietly thought the song was unimpressive.

“When I heard it, I didn’t want to say anything, but I thought it was such a crap song,” Savage said.

After her wedding, Don Jazzy urged her to return to Nigeria quickly to work on the project. Although she wanted to continue her honeymoon, the producer insisted she needed to record her verse.

“When I got back to Nigeria and heard the completed version, I was stunned. I was so angry because the same thing had happened with Eminado, I didn’t like it at first, but it turned into a hit,” she explained.

Tiwa Savage admitted she was skeptical throughout the recording process and only added her verse after every other Mavin star had already recorded theirs. “I was the last person to record my verse because I was still wondering if people really liked the song,” she confessed.

In the end, Dorobucci became a global Afrobeats anthem, proving Tiwa’s doubts wrong and showcasing Don Jazzy’s creative genius.
