Tobi Amusan claimed silver in the women’s 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, finishing in 12.29s.

Meanwhile,Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland stunned the field to take gold in a Swiss national-record 12.24s.

Amusan started well and kept close to the leaders, but Kambundji’s late surge down the home straight proved decisive.

Grace Stark took bronze in 12.34s, while Masai Russell finished fourth in 12.44s.

Earlier, Amusan had won her semi in 12.36s, setting up strong hopes for the final.

Although she did not defend her 2022 championship, the silver maintains her reputation among the world’s greatest hurdlers and is another happy moment for Nigerian athletics.
