Tobi Amusan Triumphs in Women’s 4x100m Relay at 2024 African Athletics Championship

On Monday night at the 2024 African Senior Athletics Championship in Douala, Tobi Amusan led Nigeria to a gold medal victory in the women’s 4x100m relay.

The team, comprised of Tobi Amusan, Justina Eyakpobeyan, Tima Godbless, and Olayinka Olajide, clocked a winning time of 42.76s. Liberia and Ghana secured second and third place, respectively.

Notably, Nigeria has maintained an unbeaten streak in this event at the African Athletics Championship since 2018, with Amusan contributing to all three victories.

In the men’s 4x100m relay, Nigeria claimed the silver medal with a team consisting of Kanyinsola Ajayi, Usheoritse Itsekiri, Alaba Akintola, and Godson Brume, posting a time of 38.84s. Ghana clinched gold with 38.63s, while Ivory Coast took the bronze with 39.77s.
