Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has condemned those using the ongoing nationwide protests to vandalize and loot properties.

On Thursday, Nigerians took to the streets to demonstrate against the country’s severe hardships. However, reports emerged of some individuals exploiting the situation to attack both government and private properties.

In a response on her X handle, Toke Makinwa criticized the actions, stating, “Destroying properties and stealing from fellow Nigerians who are also enduring hardship is unacceptable. It’s very sad.”

She clarified to critics that her comments were not intended to blame the protesters but rather to highlight the injustice faced by those whose properties were targeted. “I did not imply that the stealing and vandalism were carried out by protesters. The people whose things were stolen are also Nigerians suffering the same hardships. What did they do to deserve this?” she added.
