Tragic Stampede in Bauchi Leaves Seven Dead | Daily Report Nigeria

Over the weekend, a devastating stampede occurred during an almsgiving program in Bauchi, resulting in a death toll of seven.

According to state police authorities, six victims were pronounced dead at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, while one tragically passed away at home.

Bauchi Police Command spokesperson, Ahmed Wakilin, provided an update on Monday, revealing the identities of the deceased:

The victims were Aisha Usman (13 years old) from Gwang Gwang Gwang, Bauchi; Sahura Abubakar (55 years old) from Anguwan, Bauchi; and Aisha Ibrahim Abubakar (43 years old), from Kobi Street, Bauchi.

Others included Khadija Isah (8 years old) from Karofi, Bauchi, Maryam Suleiman (20 years old) from Kandahar, Bauchi, Maryam Shuibu (16 years old) from Gwang Gwan Gwan, Bauchi, and Hassana Saidu (53 years old) from Dutsen Tanshi, Bauchi.

The tragic incident unfolded on Sunday at Shafa Holdings Company Plc along Jos Road in the Bauchi metropolis.

Many residents had gathered there to receive generous alms of N10,000 each, provided by a philanthropist.

Unfortunately, chaos ensued, leading to the fatal stampede.
