Uk court rules against trans women, favors biological women
Setting history in place, five judges in the UK supreme Court have unanimously ruled against transgender women.
According to reports, the ruling, which is said to bring “clarity and confidence” follows the legal definition enshrined in the Equality Act 2010, while also stating that it does not include trans women.
This comes after a petition was lodged at the supreme Court by the gender-critical campaign group For Women Scotland after two previous courts rejected it’s argument.
The group argued that the Equality Act’s definition of a woman was limited to people born biologically female, and not people who claimed gender and acquired a gender recognition certificates (GRCs).

The court added that while the meaning of woman or biological were not defined in the Act, “the ordinary meaning of those plain and unambiguous words corresponds with the biological characteristics that make an individual a man or a woman”.
The justices added;
“Read fairly and in context, the provisions relating to single-sex services can only be interpreted by reference to biological sex.”
A spokesperson, who spoke on the ruling said:
“We have always supported the protection of single-sex spaces based on biological sex. Single-sex spaces are protected in law and will always be protected by this government.”
It is now believed that the judgment would largely affect how associated rules and restrictions are applied in Scotland, England and Wales.
