The Abia State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has affirmed the victory of Alex Otti.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that the tribunal in its sitting on Friday in Umauahia ruled that Otti was duly elected.
This is as the court dismissed the petitions filed by Ikechi Emenike of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Okey Ahaiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging Otti’s election.
Emenike sought the tribunal to annul Otti’s election, alleging that the governor did not resign his membership of the APC before moving to the the Labour Party in 2022.

Emenike further argued that Otti’s name was not in the register of the LP when he was nominated as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2023 election.
Ahaiwe, who came second in the election, had also prayed the court to remove Otti and declare him the winner.
The tribunal however, dismissed all petitions for lacking merit.
