Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in a joint operation with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have apprehended a suspected arms trafficker in Taraba State.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Bulyami Shuaib from Belango Village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, was arrested during an intelligence-led operation around the Ambassador Roundabout in Wukari LGA.

This was disclosed in a statement by the spokesperson for 6 Brigade, Umar Muhammad, who described Shuaib as a major figure in the illegal arms trade operating within the region.
According to the statement, items seized from the suspect include 362 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one round of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, ₦842,100 in cash, a black Jing Cheng motorcycle, a Redmi Android phone, an itel phone, two silver rings, and a First Bank ATM card.
The suspect is currently in custody and said to be cooperating with investigators by providing useful intelligence that may aid in dismantling similar criminal networks.
Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reiterated the army’s commitment to working closely with other security agencies to rid Taraba and neighboring areas of criminal activity.
He also appealed to residents to continue supporting security efforts by sharing reliable and timely information that can contribute to ongoing peacekeeping efforts in the state.
