  • Nigerian troops have dealt a significant blow to terrorist activities, killing 82 insurgents and capturing 198 suspected terrorists.

  • The military also rescued 93 hostages and dismantled 32 illegal refining sites in the Niger Delta region.

  •  The operation, which took place from February 14 to 21, 2025, resulted in the recovery of stolen crude oil.

Nigerian troops have achieved significant successes in their operations against terrorist groups and economic saboteurs, according to a statement by Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations.

Between February 14 and 21, 2025, the troops eliminated 82 insurgents, captured 198 suspected terrorists, and rescued 93 hostages.

The operations, which took place in various regions, also targeted illegal oil activities. Kangye revealed that 32 illegal refining sites were dismantled, and significant quantities of stolen crude oil and illegally refined products were recovered.

The seized items included 366,530 litres of stolen crude oil, 117,320 litres of illegally refined AGO, and 600 litres of DPK.

Furthermore, the troops discovered and destroyed 38 crude oil cooking ovens, 27 dugout pits, 22 boats, two speedboats, 60 storage tanks, and 34 drums used for illicit activities.

The military also recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition, including 86 assorted weapons and 2,040 rounds of ammunition.

Kangye stated, “The Defence Headquarters pledges unwavering support to troops engaged in various internal security operations across the country, aiming to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.”

Troops Dismantle Bello Turji’s Hideouts, Kill 25 Terrorists in Zamfara

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully dismantled terrorist hideouts in Zamfara State, killing 25 bandits and rescuing kidnapped victims.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, the operation was conducted on January 10, 2025.
